As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to help others. It has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, the only outlet I had was writing. Writing was my escape from the harsh realities I faced daily. I had no one to talk to and my family did not believe in therapy. As I have gotten older, I realized there was a term for someone who is empathic, always willing to listen and help others solve problems they may be experiencing. Being a dedicated therapist with a goal to become a clinical psychologist is my purpose in life. I am honored to be blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with individuals who may have mental health struggles in life no matter the disorder or issue. I say collaborate because I aim to work with my clients to address and process the issues at hand. I am no stranger to the obstacles life throws, but I’m a firm believer that with God and help, we can get through anything. I will offer a therapeutic, safe, judgement-free space for my clients.
I graduated from the University of Maryland Global Campus and earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. I currently attend Liberty University where I am pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. I have an extensive background working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, individuals on the Autism Spectrum, as well as individuals with a wide range of mental health disorders. I conduct comprehensive assessments for the Developmental Disabilities Administration, which I enjoy because not only am I assessing people’s circumstances, but I also advocate for them. Here at Brighter Hope Wellness Center, I will be working under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Graham while gaining the necessary skills to be an effective counselor.
My areas of interest include treating individuals who suffer from grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I will gain the experience necessary to provide the best treatment options for individuals who come to me dealing with something. My dedication and willingness to learn will open doors for me to treat a wide range of disorders. My methods of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy.
Outside of helping clients through therapy, I am a mother of five wonderful children who are my biggest blessings. I love gardening, practicing self-care, writing, watching self-care videos, and listening to mental health podcasts. It is important as a therapist to manage and maintain self-care to be fully present when helping clients.
Accepting new clients? Yes.
