Internship in Mental Health

 

The Brighter Hope Wellness Center (BHWC) is taking applications for the position of Intern. BWHC is looking for a highly motivated interns for various roles within the practice including: administrative support, business IT, social media, and direct clinical work. Our internship positions are unpaid and therefore represent a wonderful opportunity for students to gain experience hours toward their major.

Responsibilities

Administrative Intern:

  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Help organize and schedule appointments
  • Attend meetings and take detailed minutes
  • Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Maintain filing system
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures
  • Help with ordering of office supplies and research new deals and suppliers
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Provide general support to staff and clients when necessary

Business IT

  • Provide end user support for staff for service, to help troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and help resolve issues for staff desktop and laptop computers
  • Provide support to staff for cloud software applications and environments (Office 365 and OneDrive)
  • Maintain software updates and make them available via Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Ensure staff computers are update to date with vendor provided patches and anti-virus updates
  • Develop and maintain process automation using Microsoft Flow
  • Process and generate weekly reports/visualizations using Microsoft Power Bi
  • Provide technical support for network connectivity and office equipment (e.g, printers)
  • Provide, develop, and document training for basic hardware, software, and cloud applications to staff members.
  • Assist with equipment inventory and availability of equipment to staff
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Must be available for 8-16 hours per week
  • Must be able to demonstrate technical competency on basic IT topics including the ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues, network configurations, cloud environments, etc.
  • Undergraduate student completing a Bachelors degree in Business IT or related field
  • Proficiency in the following OS and applications:
  • Windows 10
  • Microsoft Office
  • Microsoft Flow
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Microsoft Power Bi
  • Ability to work in a Linux environment and use the command line
  • Ability to prioritize tasking and manage time effectively
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively document and communicate findings and solutions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • An ability to work with a team

Clinical Intern – Masters Level or Doctoral Level:

  • Work consistently to ensure that clients receive the highest quality therapy possible
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and electronic documents
  • Work consistently to ensure that clients receive the highest quality therapy possible
  • Present oneself in an appropriately personable and professional manner to clients and staff 
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with supervisor  
  • Be energetic, engaged, creative, and imaginative when working with individuals who have developmental delays
  • Be both consistent and flexible as circumstances warrant 
  • Work directly and collaboratively with families and professionals
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings

Social Media Intern:

  • Design social media strategies to achieve marketing targets
  • Manage, create and publish original, high quality content
  • Administer all company social media accounts ensuring up-to-date content
  • Liaise with writers and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Collaborate  to create social ‘buzz’ regarding new service or product launches
  • Facilitate client-company communication (respond to queries, get reviews and organize chats and Q&A sessions)
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on web traffic and ROI
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization
  • Communicate with industry professionals via social media to create a strong network
  • Train internal teams to integrate and maintain a cohesive social media strategy
  • Stay up-to-date with new digital technologies and social media best practices

Qualifications

  • Student completing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling, Social Work, Business, Marketing, Business IT, or a related field
  • Masters/Doctoral level counseling/clinical psychology interns who are looking to receive supervision hours and hands on experience, while providing individual or group counseling and therapeutic services
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Excel)
