Zakkiyya Hallenbeck, MA, Psychotherapy Associate, at Brighter Hope Wellness Center

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about helping others. What began as using writing as an outlet during my own challenges has grown into my life’s purpose: walking alongside others as they navigate theirs. My goal as a therapist and future clinical psychologist is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel supported, heard, and empowered to heal.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Maryland Global Campus and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. My professional background includes working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, those on the Autism Spectrum, and individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges. I’ve also conducted comprehensive assessments for the Developmental Disabilities Administration and currently train under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Graham at Brighter Hope Wellness Center.

My clinical interests include grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety, ADHD, and personality disorders. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy to meet the unique needs of my clients. Outside of my professional work, I am a proud mother of five and enjoy gardening, writing, and practicing self-care.

My areas of interest include treating individuals who suffer from grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I will gain the experience necessary to provide the best treatment options for individuals who come to me dealing with something. My dedication and willingness to learn will open doors for me to treat a wide range of disorders. My methods of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy.

Outside of helping clients through therapy, I am a mother of five wonderful children who are my biggest blessings. I love gardening, practicing self-care, writing, watching self-care videos, and listening to mental health podcasts. It is important as a therapist to manage and maintain self-care to be fully present when helping clients.

Accepting new clients? Yes.
