A psychological assessment can help identify the underlying causes of an individual's symptoms and provide a basis for developing a treatment plan that is tailored to their needs. This comes into play if there's more in-depth issues with staying focused in school, developmental delays, social/emotional problems, and/or a need for more accommodations.
We provide comprehensive testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder. The diagnosis we provide is considered a medical diagnosis. This means a diagnosis given at our clinic is sufficient for obtaining therapy services such as early intervention and applied behavior analysis.
To determine whether someone qualifies for a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder we may assess different areas of functioning. Some measures may involve interviewing a caregiver. Other tests involve working directly with the child. Most importantly, we use gold-standard testing measures for determining a diagnosis, such as:
- Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule
- Autism Diagnostic Interview, Revised
- Childhood Autism Rating Scale
- Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, Third Edition
- Testing consists of the following 3 sessions:
- 1 60-minute virtual intake session with the client (parent only if it's a child)
- 1 three hour in person session for the testing/evaluation with the client only; 9am-1pm (less flexibility)
- 1 60-minute virtual feedback session to go over results.
- The wait time for testing services is ~ 9 to 12 months.
- As the waiting period ends, you will receive a notice confirming if you are still interested in our services to ensure you still wish to remain on the waiting list.
- When there is an appointment available, we will call and send an email.
- We will need you to respond within 48 hours before offering the spot to another client in need of services. If the time does not work with your schedule, you can simply decline, and you will keep your spot in the waiting list and will be notified when the next available time is.
