I am a graduate student through the University of Kentucky College of Social Work completing my advanced practicum with the Brighter Hope Wellness Center team. I previously received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Wyoming. My undergraduate internship was with the University of Wyoming’s Family Medicine Residency Program where I worked on an interdisciplinary team with Physicians, Psychotherapists, Pharmacists, Nursing, and other professions to provide care to a wide demographic of patients including prenatal care all the way to end of life services.
My scholarship has focused on LGBTQIA+ needs and challenges, access to healthcare, and attachment-based problems within families. I have received specific training in trust-based relational intervention and motivational interviewing to meet client needs. I am also studying the application of narrative therapy with a wide variety of clients. I am very excited to work with the Brighter Hope Wellness team to expand my skill set and knowledge to help others in the community.
I will approach our work from systemic and narrative theory. Asking for help is hard, and no matter an individual’s life circumstances, I believe everyone is deserving of help when they need it.
